My grandmother used to send to my sisters and me, and to my sons years later, the most adorable greeting cards on Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and on Halloween. She always enclosed a crisp dollar bill in each card. The following images are all reminiscent of the cards my sons and I received from my grandmother through the years. If my grandchildren lived more than a mile a way from me, I'd consider doing the same.

Aside from the jack-o-lantern, the witch is the quintessential image for Halloween. As we know from The Wizard of Oz, there are good witches and bad witches. Halloween brings out many witches. To quote Dorothy when she met Glenda for the first time, "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

I'm intrigued by Halloween greeting cards that are of a romantic nature. Their sentiment is more like Valentine's Day than an occasion that celebrates ghosts, witches, and black cats. But they are so charming!

Some of these vintage postcards are so intriguing. Surely they come from life as it was during the era the card was created, which makes them even more fascinating. Consider this series of Halloween greeting cards depicting young girls engaged in festive activities. Interestingly, we see each of them through a hand mirror.

Since Halloween is this Friday, I've selected a series of vintage greetings and postcards to feature this week. Many love this annual event, and some I know say it is their favorite holiday. Selecting a costume each year is so much fun for those who love to dress, and I thought this postcard was absolutely charming!
