U.S. Elections ~ Inauguration Day

The inauguration of the first United States President, George Washington, was held on April 30, 1789 in New York City.  The Twentieth Amendment to the constitution changed the date to January 20 in 1937; Franklin Roosevelt began his second term in office that year.
