Pink ~ All Shades of Pink Flowers with Slate Blue

 

Truth be told, blue has always been my favorite color.  Growing up, my bedroom was always blue and white and, depending on the season, I would add accents in pink or yellow.  While the formal rooms in my home are decorated in a palette of brick red and golden yellow, I still love pink.  And I love all shades of pink against all shades of blue.

Slate blue is deep and cool and, fading to the background in a gentlemanly, it allows all pinks to take center stage.   

  

In some cases, the blue isn't even visible.  Rather, all things pink are the focal point.

 

 

But sometimes, blue does hold its own with pink and, when it comes to flowers, oh what a beautiful coupling these two make!

 

When it comes to a favorite color, sometimes it is the backdrop against which that color presents itself that makes it most attractive.

Tablescape ~ Tea-Tin Centerpiece

 

Tea tins come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.  Imagine using several for a centerpiece.  Clean, fill with a flowers that compliment the colors of the tins, and arrange in the center of the table.  What a unique and cheerful way to welcome guests!

For those who live in homes with a backyard and a lawn, painted kitchen chairs and a cloth-covered table can be a delightful setting.  Fill the table with favorite bite-sized delectable treats and, if you can, add a chandelier!

Mosaic Monday ~ Red, White, and Blue Desserts

 

Happy Memorial Day to all!  As we stop to remember those who lost their lives in the name of freedom, let us celebrate their valor and their courage by honoring the colors in our nation's flag.  Red, white, and blue seem to be the color theme for the summer, and can certainly be found in cool and festive desserts.  So I've chosen a few delectably tempting berry-filled inspirations for today's mosaic.  I'll take a parfait, please!  Do you have a favorite?

Pink ~ April Showers Brought May Flowers

May is the month for roses and peonies and aster, Mother's Day teas and the beginning of graduation season.  Thanks to those April Showers, May's flowers are in full bloom.  So before we leave the merry month of May behind for another year, let's ooh and aah over this month's pink posies. 

Pink floral fabrics are the perfect compliment for white wicker furniture.  Placed on a porch, pink and white textures welcome family and friends or tempt homeowners to sit or even nap on the porch.

A dining table decorated in pink and green is arguably the most refreshing of all, especially in May.  Who would not love to sit at a place setting like the one pictured here?

Share a yummy layer cake and a cup or two of your favorite tea.

Whether pink petaled delights are the inspiration for fabrics and textures in home decor or clustered together in a favorite vase, May's flowers are certainly a sight to behold.  There will still be more pink to appreciate in the months ahead, but pink seems to come into its own in May.  Wouldn't you agree?!
