The U.S. Presidential election has finally arrived, and there are some paintings that, in hindsight, shed light on the tremendous evolotion that has taken place in our country over the past 200-plus years. This painting depicts a country election as a gathering. It's festive and relaxed, yet important.

Topiary trees are so classic and so charming. I love this painting of a pomegranate topiary and would sure love to see a real one in a nursery or in my home!

Another painting of pomegranates with white porcelain, this time a water pitcher. In addition the the use of color in this painting and the exquisite rendering of glass, I love that one pomegranate is split open. Such detail!

I studied art history during my second year at college and I loved it. I've mentioned here before that the Impressionists are my favorite, in particular Claude Monet. I like Renoir for his use of color.
In keeping with the theme of contrasting pomegranates and white, here is a painting wherein Renoir depicts ripe pomegranates in a China bowl. I love the floral detail on the side of the bowl. So feminine, filled with autumn's fruit!

Here's another study in contrast, the rich colors of the pomegranates against the white bowl and taupey-gray wallpaper and table. I love how the scroll motif in the wallpaper compliments the shape of the fruit.
