The Palace Hotel ~ Historic San Francisco

 

The exterior view of The Palce Hotel is not nearly as elegant as the photographs of the rooms inside.  But it is located in San Francisco, the city of my birth, and it does represent the architecture of downtown San Francisco.  I just can't wait to have Afternoon Tea in the Garden Court again!

The Palace Hotel ~ French Parlor

 

In the picture of the Garden Court, you may have noticed the archways on the second level.  Here is the view from inside those archways.  This photograph is of the French Parlor which overlooks the Garden Court.  I am not certain if tea is served in this room, but imagine a special luncheon here.  It's hard to pick a single favorite feature in this room!

Afternoon Tea in the Garden Court at The Palace Hotel is not a casual event.  Those enjoying tea wear attire that compliments the setting, daytime formal.  Many women wear hats, men wear ties, and children wear their Sunday finest.  The service is wonderful and the selections are many.  These tables are set to serve high tea.  Don't they look inviting?

Afternoon Tea ~ The Palace Hotel, San Francisco

   

Happy March!  And thank you to those who participated in the survey I conducted during February.  Your responses were quite helpful in determining the direction of The Tea Room!  Photographs of interiors and tablescapes or tea rooms was the most popular category, with recipes of the sweet and savory a close second.  Since some voted for paintings and stories, I'll add those along the way, too.  Thank you once again for voicing your opinions -- I really value them!

I was born in San Francisco and have lived in the Bay Area all my life.  Several years ago, my grandmother took my sisters and me to enjoy tea at the Garden Court inside the Palace Hotel.  It was a lovely setting and, although I've not returned since, I plan to make it a point to get there this year again.  Here is a photo of the Garden Court.  Isn't it lovely?  And wouldn't you want to return soon, too?  Perhaps you've already been there?  If so, please do tell!

This room is as grand as it appears.  It is absolutely stunning!  I chose to share this tea location first since I was born in San Francisco and since the Palace Hotel's Garden Court has a special place in my heart.  Please visit The Tea Room again soon to see more photographs, the menu for Afternoon Tea, and a recipe or two.
